Thanks to everyone who made it out for our Annual Convention. It was a fantastic day, full of energy for re-invigorating Pennsylvania’s Farmers Union. The day began with a State of the Union address by our president, Kim Miller. This was followed by a bit of history about some of the more radical beginnings of Farmers Union in our Commonwealth, with an invitation to reclaim our dynamic role in Pennsylvania’s agricultural growth.
Both a membership and financial report were offered, including discussion on goals for growth. National Farmers Union president, Roger Johnson, provided a current legislative framework for addressing national policy priorities and Brian Snyder (board member at-large and executive director of PASA) provided an accessible and candid overview of the progress with the Food Safety Modernization Act.
New board members were elected and, overall, the stage was set for propelling us as an organization into the next stages of our strategic plan. Look to hear from us about ways you can get involved and put your passions and experience to work for supporting Pennsylvania’s family farms to thrive!
Kim and I are now at the National Farmers Union convention, representing our Commonwealth at the national table.
